Getting to Gulf Waters by RV with or without the ferry

You can reach Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort without taking the Port Aransas ferry. The resort’s directions include a road route through Corpus Christi and across the JFK Bridge, as well as an approach from the ferry landing in Port Aransas. The right choice depends on where your trip begins, your RV setup and current travel conditions.

Use 5601 State Highway 361, Port Aransas, Texas 78373 as your destination. Before leaving, compare the two approaches and plan your arrival around the check-in arrangements confirmed for your reservation.

The road route through Corpus Christi

For the bridge approach, Gulf Waters’ directions take you along South Padre Island Drive, using TX-358 and TX-22 across the causeway and JFK Bridge, then onto TX-361 north toward the resort. This gives you an option that does not involve boarding a ferry.

Compare the full trip from your starting point. A route that avoids a ferry can still mean a different driving distance, traffic pattern or fuel stop. Review the roads in advance using navigation appropriate for your RV’s dimensions, and allow time for your normal travel breaks.

Save the resort address and directions before you leave. If your navigation offers several destinations with similar names, check the street address rather than relying only on the business label.

The ferry approach from Aransas Pass

The Port Aransas ferry connects Aransas Pass on the mainland with Port Aransas on Mustang Island. After the crossing, follow the resort’s southbound directions from Port Aransas along TX-361.

TxDOT’s ferry information includes vehicle limits, wait-time information and webcams. Check the requirements for your complete setup, including anything being towed. If you are unsure whether your combination meets the limits, contact the ferry service at 361-749-2850 before committing to that route.

The crossing time and the time spent waiting to board are separate parts of your travel day. Look at current conditions before approaching the terminal, and leave room in the plan for a delay. A previous trip or an old estimate will not tell you today’s wait.

For travelers with a large rig, checking the official guidance in advance also gives you time to compare the bridge approach. Choose a route that fits your vehicle, your starting point and the conditions you can verify.

Work backward from resort check-in

Review your reservation confirmation and the current resort policies while planning the drive. Confirm your check-in time with the office before travel. Ask about late-arrival arrangements if your schedule is uncertain, including any applicable charges and whether overflow parking can be assigned. Do not assume a late arrival can be accommodated without advance arrangements.

Include fuel, meal and rest stops in your arrival estimate, plus any ferry wait. Keep your reservation details and the office number where a passenger can find them easily.

If a delay changes your expected arrival, call the office when it is safe to do so. An early conversation gives you clearer information than arriving after closing and assuming your reserved site will be immediately accessible.

Know where to go when you arrive

The resort’s directions tell arriving guests to follow the red arrows to the check-in area on the north side of the Welcome Center. Complete check-in and follow staff instructions for reaching your site.

Once you are settled, use the resort amenities page to plan the rest of your stay. It identifies the beach boardwalk, pool and spa, laundry facilities and other on-site features, so you can decide what you would like to enjoy after the drive.
